Description of chapter

The onboarding of this experience is meant to transform each guest into an immigrant blue collar space worker. The nurse performs a brief medical examination—an activity that represents part of the health procedures necessary for space travel (there are of course a number of other training and vitals observations and procedures that would be necessary, but maybe in this future most of the preparation is done without the engagement of humans) Each person is assigned a worked ID to anonymize their identity. The preparation of each guest into the fiction sets the context for the narrative.

The mission kit

The mission kit includes:

• Mission letter - the letter states your mission

• Mission patch - Designed by NORMALS, the patch has an illustration of Cocollona, a mythical river monster from Girona. According to legend, she was once a nun who, due to her lack of faith, was punished and imprisoned in the dungeon of the city's monastery, and could only leave to go to the river that runs through the city—the Onyar. After many years, due to her undernourishment and isolation, she grew scales until she fully metamorphosed into a crocodile-like creature. In spite of this punishment, she was still somewhat saintly, which manifested as a pair of butterfly wings. This traditional symbol alludes to representing part of the culture of Catalonia—a story of resilience and beauty.

• Water bag - In space, liquids are handled with care. Typical drinks are either in powder format or in bags which include special pouch openings that allow astronauts to drink them without leaking the liquid into the atmosphere.
