Description of chapter

This chapter is a critique and dialogue that the BASC collective has designed to open questions around our role as humans in the universe and in space. The experience is divided into 3 stages: LIFE, VOID, REBIRTH and is a provocation and visualization of topics we have normalized as humans on earth and their relationship to other life forms.

In LIFE we, as humans, have been conducting extractive practices—extracting resources from the earth and its creatures—which is derived from the perception that our species has the right to exploit our environments for our own use.

In the VOID we want to transmit the consequences of our actions which are repeated over and over not just on earth but potentially in outer space. Through the experience, BASC wants to shut down the universe as a resource and as a consequence of our actions and fill the ‘nothingness’ and void with something different.

The REBIRTH and salvation is created when our perspective of hope emerges—when we believe or think that life is giving us a second chance. There is an aspect of humanity that implies connection, not just relational and rational connection but also emotional connection. We break this duality of rationality and emotionality that has been has been mundane over history.

The overall message focuses on how might we become more human and have a second chance to reconnect and replace ourselves in the universe.
